You could say the same for kerbs, tree routes, kids toys, grass...the list goes on. I think if you walk with your eyes open it can be a cheap easy and transferable option to use picnic rugs. We have numerous rugs in our bell tent with young children. Had no trip issues to date. Seem to have plenty of other peoples children tripping over our guylines though!

I hate the mention of trip hazards, my hubby has overused the phrase as an excuse to hammer all pegs to Australia and every time I've confronted him he on this he quotes
'they are a trip hazard'
'Hello? they are holding the guy ropes what do you think they are?'
'yes but they won't hurt some ones foot'
'well they'll learn not to walk so close to our tent quite quickly then'
I think after our last camp where everyone walked so close to our tent for absolutely no reason (we were the only tent on that patch of grass, it wasn't even a short cut and most of them were adults!) he also does not care so much about the well being of space invaders!
