Believe the quietest are Honda, mind you one of their generators will set you back a bit.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
A genny is ok for a large field if you are the only one there. I was in my mates field up in the dales last week, used his small but relatively noisy genny for tv at night and to charge batteries.....can't see any problems with that.
I am looking for a quiet genny for use on my 2week field based hols next year but the honda is VERY EXPENSIVE just for a 800watt max output.
The bigger the wattage, the noisier the genny unfortunately. :(
Its not always a good idea to run a caravan or motorhome on a generator(unless built in from new ) as they do not always run at a constant output due to various load, and you will run risk of damaging long term your 240v

What damage occurs, you see plenty on the rally fields or are they only used for charging batteries.
long term damage will occur to charger and mains consumer unit as generators pulse thus causing a varied un constant supply.I once had to repair a 2004 abbey that customer had run a generator on each time they used it and it finally caused consumer to burn out causing charger to follow and also had to replace some wiring..They also wondered why they were also forever changing bulbs in there lighting.now they will not use a generator at all.Does not happen all the time but risk is there.Hope this helps

A caravan centre worth there salt would and should advise the use of generators on caravans and motorhomes,But most will not risk losing a £600+ sale of a generator by giving some advice, but im afraid my company(which i own)would rather not sell a item just to get money in till, without giving all pros and cons 1st.I like happy customers who come back time and time again. Most people are not told of pros and cons by the seller, but then i guess that is down to each individual sale and sometimes greed by the seller

Cheap generators do not have an inverter and are not suitable for "sensitive items such as TVs and laptops".
There were some counterfeit generators on the market a few years ago claiming to have Honda supplied motors, beware.
Hydrogen fuel cells have now become handheld, but you will still need a power source to create the hydrogen fuel. Solar can be used for this.
Using 20w solar panels on a caravan roof to feed the leisure battery seems the current optimum option. More panels equals more power.
While you are living at home your caravan solar panels could be generating hydrogen that you could use to reduce petrol/diesel consumption in your car or as an extra source of electricity when you are camping, but that is for the future.
A modern inverter generator, such as the Honda range, used properly won't damage a caravan electrics, they have voltage and frequency control equal to and possibly better than your mains supply.

I read a report on generators used by the SAS and available to buy. They are virtually silent and cost about £2000.
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
