Dont know if its on right area but went in caravan two weeks ago, just a small site to try out for first time. Before we went kitted out van with aqua roll and waste, they were on special offer from leisure sales, anyhow while looking round noticed every van on site had same water and waste containers and i said to hubby,if these go walkabout you would never find them, and when you concider they would cost over £100 to replace. My question is do people lock them to the van. Has anyone had them pinched, did think about using cycle locks. And putting name on or postcode.
Just a cheap long thin cable lock. More to stop them blowing around if empty and any kids moving them when playing.
There was a thread on here a long time back where people came back to teh vans and found the waterpumps missing. Someone had unplugged them and chucked them in the hedges and ditch.
Makes you think thats £40+ worth of pump & pipe sitting there.
We're in a MH, so we don't have the separate fresh water tankthat you folks have, but we have our number plate velcro'd onto our (black) grey water cannister to confirm our pitch when we go away for the day. Or in case I leave it behind outside the showers by mistake.
In general, most tenters and caravanners look out for each others units when the owners are away. You have to be sensible about it but it is one of the great things about these pastimes that on the whole most participants are honest people.
