Can only speak for myself but never had an issue with aquaroll freezing using the insulating jacket. I also use pipe lagging jacket wrapped around pipe/pump that I made up myself.
I suppose its like anything else..there are different qualities of insulating jackets, mine is quite thick and as I said earlier have been using it for years just like the folks who use an old parka jacket, it does the job.
