Measure where you would like the porch awning to go, avoiding windows and vents where possible. This will give you the maximum width of the awning.
Porch awnings will never give you as good a seal as a full awning but by using the correct rear pads and erecting it properly you can achieve a very good seal. Also using a draught skirt and wheel cover significantly reduces draughts coming in from under the van.
There is a huge choice of porch awning from lightweight polyester to heavy duty canvas - which one you choose is a personal preference and may depend on your payload.
If you see an awning you like being used on site, have a chat with the owner and ask them how they find their awning.
I have recently bought a Pyramid canvas porch awning and I also have an Outdoor Revolution polyester awning. My friends have an Isabella and a Bradcot awning.
