i have bought a caravan with awning, the problem is thats its a foot too short!!.....its new though and id rather keep it.is it still possible to erect it and have a gap at the side??? as im going to be placing the caravan in a forest and it aint going to be moved.i mean its 1 foot short on one side.many thanks.
just get another length of awning rail and put this on your van one foot in from the other original rail then the awning will fit, depending were the doors and windows are..

can you cut a foot off the other end and sew it on to the short side?
No, the other end would be short then; the best way is to take a piece out of the middle, cut it in half, and sew each half onto each end - then it will be even!

thanks beefysmum, thats not such a bad idea!!.....after all the caravan will be put on my land in estonia when i get there and i wont be moving it at least for a couple years.so removing the wheels might just work out.one thing though???......if i do this do you think the van could be affected with rising damp???,if so do you have any more good ideas to remedy this??.thanks
You could build a platform on stilts, but make sure its too high for the rising damp to climb and use a ladder to get in an out . I have many good ideas like this. Now I'll go and figure out a way to get the caravan up the ladder
