Hi has anyone fitted a kit form (on board water tank) I.E a tank under a bunk not under the van itself.

Also is it worth while fitting. And i would like to know as much info as possible before i go ahead with it.

I fitted internal water storage last year, but didn't go for a pre-made tank as they were very expensive and only seemed to be about 40 litres, i.e. one Aquaroll full.  Didn't seem worth the effort to me so I build my own storage using 4 x 25 litre water carriers linked together.  These feed an HP pump built for boats. This gices good storage together with a system with better flow and pressure, particularly from the shower. Have built two filling systems, one external to feed directly off a mains connection with fold-flat hoses.  If I am not sited near enough to the mains I fill it up upon arrival through a hose before parking up.  I have also retained the original Carver connections so I can use the Aquaroll as before, or pump from the Aquaroll into the internal storage.

I used the 40 litre aquaflow which after a leak is now underneath and seems to be OK in moderate frosts

The external Carver pump pipe to the taps was removed and used to fill the tank .This can also be filled with a hose through the same fitting.

The outlet from the tank was then connected to the inlet side of a Sureflow inboard pump and the original feed to the taps was connected to the Sureflow outlet

The original pump 12V feed via a relay was used for the Sureflow and a new feed via a fuse  was fitted for the external filler pump(the original) with switches inside and outside the caravan for filling

A float switch in the tank illuminates a warning light when there is about 2 gallons left so water can be pumped in from the aquaroll when needed(from outside or inside switch)We run out water through the drain tap until the light illuminates for towing.

We have had this system for 15 years now and find it very convenient with water always available for two showers and  en route and the tank can easily be topped up at inconvenient times (i e when in the middle of a shower or if its raining etc)

Hope that helps
