Hi,
Continuing our familiarisation with our new bailey ranger our thoughts have turned towards a porch awning.
We have the 460/4 with the door fairly forward along the side wall. When the door is open there is only a gap of a couple of inches between the door and the front lounge area side window. I assume this is where the awning side wall would sit? how does this work in practicality? Any advice on which awning to get for the best fit, we have been looking at air awnings.
Thanks
Yes you're correct, you want the awning wall to sit between the door and window still allowing the door to fully open. I would then measure backwards to see what length awning suits your van to miss wheel arches, windows etc.. and also your awning rail for the chosen length should remain horizontal. Usual lengths are 200, 260, 390cm. I would also recommend Kampa, good quality at a reasonable price and their air awnings have been around for longer than most.
Thanks Pete, will do that. It just seems such a small gap between the door and the window, I was worried about a snug fit and the awning not being damaged by the door. The kampa air awnings were the ones we were looking at.
You're right Simon, there isn't much space. We have a different model of Bailey van but the same design issue. Just means you have to be careful the awning doesn't move in the rail when pegging it down.
We changed from a 260 to a 390 to avoid the windows but are now wishing we had purchased an air version.....
We just can't decide between the AIR, AIR PRO and AIR ACE !
