Just got a new to us caravan, it comes with a Kampa rally pro 390, we are used to a full awning the kampas always look so flimsy next to a full awning, we holiday for up to 2 weeks as well as weekends so need the extra space and like to have our awning as the living room , what are peoples opinions on them shall we give it a go or get a proper one?

It seems only logical that if you have it, then give it a go.
We have the same awning and would not change it for a full one, plenty big enough.

We used to have a full, then bought a 390. Never used the full awning since and now sold it.

Lighter, smaller to store, can put it up on my own and can dry it in my garage easier when we get home and it is wet, which is most times!

No brainer.

We have the 390 and love it. It is so easy and quick to put up. It is also big enough. I would give it a go first before buying a full awning.

Just bought the Kampa 390 air pro, along wih its groundsheet.
Havnt used it yet, but it looks very good.
Bought additional set of ground pegs to use with it

We've just bought a Dorema Magnum Air All Season, due for delivery early April. Like the Kampa but made from tencate which is breathable. Good deal at the show they were selling them for £700 delivered inc rear poles.

The Kampa 390 awnings are fine size wise and we have 4 of us.
They are very sturdy pieces of kit and have storm strap points and rear poles help seal the awnings against the van.
Not sure if the Pro comes with monsoon pole but buy 3 sets of these if it doesn't to stop pooling in heavy rain.

Give it a try with an open mind and see what you think as you have it.

The only downside I can think of is condensation can be an issue as lack of built in ventilation on some rally models

Wouldn't change back to a full awning for any money personally, as weight (payload impact) and time to put up are so different for so very little compromise

Another vote here for the Kampa Rally, our 390 is now nearly 4years old and we love it. So much easier and quicker to put up, and no problems regarding transfere to a new caravan sizewise, unlike traditional awnings, we bought the 260 first, then the 390 to give more space for an innerpod if grandchildren want to stay for the weekend, no regrets whatsoever, and would never buy another traditional awning again.

Shouldn't be no. Only possible area on artificial material awnings is seams sometime where stitching can leak at first and seam sealant could be needed, but main body of awning should be fine.

What do the instructions and Kampa suggest more importantly?

I am so sorry to disagree. I bought a Kampala 390, even with either extra storm poles it was useless in the slightest wind, the fabric was terribly poor quality and the coating peeled off the fabric in frost...Easter camping often gas a first at night! Never again would I buy Kampa. The one I bought new was Shoddy rubbish. As you got it free then you may be ok, but never ever pay money for one!

Have to disagree, I suspect others would as well, the Kampa Rally Pro that we have is an excellent awning.

Kampa are ok awnings. Their main issue is condensation on the roof.
