We have returned to caravanning after an 8 year break and now own a Compass 360/2. We are looking for a lightweight porch awning, preferably an inflatable such as Kampa Rally Air or Sunncamp Swift Air. I am a little concerned about the type of awning that will fit our van which is not only small but has a roofline that slopes gradually downwards from the rear towards the front. A photo of the van is in my profile. Any advice/recommendations gratefully received.

we brought the Revalution oxy air last year very light and easy to erect, and we only have a small caravan Avondale dart 2berth

You will need to measure how much straight awning rail you have and then find and awning that will fit this length.

See what you mean, your entire length of awning rail is at an angle.

I would suggest setting up and measuring the height from ground to awning rail at each end of 260 and 390 lengths of awnings, these are the lengths Kampa Rally are sold in. There is a tolerance on height for these awnings, see which length keeps within this tolerance which is

Suitable for caravans between the height of 235 - 250 cm.

Thanks for all your input. Checkley- The van is only 3.60 m long so the Kampa 390 is out. I would prefer the Kampa 260 but I'm conerned that it will be lobsided so perhaps I should stick to the shorter porches such as the Kampa 200 or Sunncamp 220 . I will measure the heights when I go up to the van tomorrow. I like the look of the Revolution so will add it to my list of awnings to view if a longer 260 porch is a viable proposition.

If the van is too low you can put it up on a wheel ramp to make it higher. The types they use for levelling the van.

If the van is too low, you will find a pool of water will form in the awning roof which gets bigger and bigger.

Measured the van today and if we keep to a 2 metre wide awning then the van is just within the 235-250 tolerance. If we go any wider then the height of the van at the front falls to 230 for a 260 cm awning.

We could go with Navvers excellent suggestion of putting the van on ramps to raise it a few cms for the wider awning but I think a 2 metre awning will be enough for us.

We only want somewhere big enough to use a couple of Dukdalf chairs and a little coffee table when it's not fine enough to sit out and to store the outdoor stuff while we are out

We have decided on the Kampa Rally 200 but now we have to decide whether to splash out and buy the Air over the poled version. Decisions,decisions. Thanks all for all your input.

I reckon you would be fine on those measurements with a 260 which would give you that bit of extra room, especially if you raise the van slightly on planks or ramps as suggested

I would also go for a Kampa Rally non air as you can adjust height of front legs independenfly

Good point about the adjustable legs so last night I went online and purchased the Kampa Rally 200 with poles. The 200 is enough for our needs, keeps the weight down which is important with our small car and is enough awning for two short ar**s like us to be dealing with. Thanks all for helping us decide.
