We've tried;
Cadac Safari chef - difficult to clean and don't seem to get hot enough.
Weber Smokey Joe - too inflexible, messy and often not allowed on french camp sites.
so, this year we are trying the Weber 1200 on stands - flexible and easy to clean, but bulky to carry.
If this doesn't work out, I will try the Cobb - looks great, though not too sure about French camp sites and coals.

I often put an apple and blackberry crumble on the Cobb after cooking the main dish, cooks while you are eating your mains. I buy tinned Apple and blackberry and packet crumble and foil tray, really easy!

Quite excited about the Cobb. Especially the gas option.
We have been in France and told in NO uncertain terms that charcoal is out!
Gas was the only option, however my experience in the past of using disposable canisters is that the pressure drops off quite quickly and they can make cooking large volumes of food a testing time.
The Cobb uses disposable canisters. Does any one have experience of this?

Unlike OP's experience .. we've had a Cadac for three years now ... and swear by it.
The new BBQ design plate is easy to clean.
The Paella pan is a fantastic cooking item, and really easy to clean.
Never found any problem with the non stick surface wearing out ... it's all as it was when first unpacked.
The variety of stuff it can do is astonishing.
Yes, you'll end up with favourite bits that you'll use over and over ... but ours is used pretty well every day for seven weeks on hols and at home for BBQ's.
