I am looking for a tarpaulin to go underneath our tent.(it has a sewn in groundsheet.) Our tent is 580x320 and tarp seems really expensive. Will a cheap old b&q tarp be ok? Our first camping hol will be on grass. But we hope to tour Europe, possibly camping on gravel and sand pitches.any help would be appreciated.
Anything of this nature will be fine...finding one to fit your tent might be the difficult bit. Whatever you buy make sure that it does not stick out beyond the edge of your tent or rain and/or water running off the flysheet will drip onto it and run back underneath the groundsheet.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Have a look at weavetex or search for breathable awning carpets . Lots of camping sites won't allow a footprint that isn't breathable . Theses will keep your tent groundsheet clean and protected allowing water to pass through , so as far as I'm aware it's ok to have one larger than your tents footprint and have a nice protected area infont of your tent . I have just ordered a second one to give me ground protection under my canopy area . Hope his helps .
I have recently had a quote from Mudfords Ltd for a custom cut tarp as I can't seem to find a near enough sized footprint for our TT awning. It was £32 +VAT for roughly 3m x 3.8m which I didn't think was too bad.
