Saw this the other day and wondered if it may be of interest to fellow UKCampsiter's:

Coleman event shelter 10ft x 10ft (3m x 3m approx).
£89 exc vat, £107 inc vat.

I've had a quick look around and the price seems particularly favourable.

Should anyone be looking for this type of shelter for the coming season.

I wouldn't like to comment on 'strong wind' and i think that the manufacturers instructions recommend that it is taken down if adverse weather is forecast or overnight (it seems a pretty generic set of advice from most manufacturers).

Certainly in France last year there were a couple of these shelters on pitches and they were not taken down at all (apart from when they were dismantled for the journey home). Several people had two or three of the 'sun screen' sides added as well and they all appeared to cope with the weather, even those in relatively unsheltered positions.

Apart from the faff factor, I dont think that they take that long to assemble and erect so it shouldn't be too much of a chore to take it down each night if you really wanted too ...... apart from finding storage for all the kit you are undoubtedly going to end up accumulating under it!

We have recently sold our big family tent because the kids are old enough to want their own space/tents. We use an old Argos kitchen tent for most of the cooking kit, so the main purpose of a shelter would be to accommodate table and chairs and to protect us from sun and rain whilst eating/relaxing.

Since we seem to see more rain than sun, we have been looking for something to replace the large covered area previously afforded us by the big family tent.

Whilst I agree it would not be too much of a faff to take down/put up, we really wanted something that was a 'pitch and forget' option.

Defender, did you notice if they had the 15ft version?

We use them in scouts. Had them up for a weekend, no problem with all the sides on or off..but we need another for this year. Best price I can find for the bigger one is 150 in cotswolds...
Although it would be a bit a squeeze for personal use on a pitch, I have seen a few people using these too.

..although I wouldn't subject a coleman to the conditions that our Wynnster shelter manages where we have had a 40 mph gusts hit it no problem with its flexipoles...but these cost a bit more!

Wow Jasie... 40 mph gusts. I think I need to post something new regarding out old Argos kitchen tent which has withstood the same and more.
