We have just
made the investment and moved from air beds to camp beds and sims, one thing
that I am now considering as having some form of carpet in the sleeping pods of
our tent.
When using
air beds I would simply put an old blanket down under the beds to provide a
little extra insulation however I am wondering if there is actually a need now we
are off the ground and if anyone bothers with carpets in the sleeping areas of
their tents. We use 2 picnic blankets for carpet in the rest of the tent so I
am thinning I will just do the same in this area.
Same as Bernie. Ideally, you want a little protection under the bed feet, just in case.
Whether living area or bedroom, Fitted carpets are great, but picnic blankets are almost as good. Probably just as good, in the bedroom, as there's a good chance the camp beds will hide the joint!
We have a (nearest size will do) carpet, then runners either side of the bed, for extra cosy tootsies of a morning!

it also helps with keeping the floor cleaner, much easier to pick that up and take outside and give it a shake than having to try and get a brush and pan and clean up, cant stand sand in the bed!
Thanks everyonem i thought it would be worth it but considered i may have been being a bit ott, funny none of the tent companies supply carpets to fit the sleeping areas of tents and only the living areas.
I have picnic rugs in both the living area and the bedroom pod to protect the groundsheet and for comfort and warmth underfoot. Although wall to wall fitted carpets are nice there is no need to worry about the edges as you don't walk right up to the walls of a tent and that is where most of your gear will go. You only really need carpet where you are likely to walk. I also use a short runner just inside the tent door as a doormat so I can stand on it to slip off wet boots etc; and save the main mats a little.
I use a large piece of canvas cut from a tent years ago as a carpet for the bedroom pod....It's a one size fits all sort of thing...Where I can fold to fit .any of my tents....Packs down reasonably small and is ideal just for giving a quick shake out at the end of a camping trip...
Like others I like a wee bit of protection for me tootsies when I swing my legs over the bed in the morning...
Spent part of yesterday cutting the canvas roof and sides off an old awning so now have 3 long strips to go under/around my sim (When Back packing) and an almost square bit that will fit even better in the sleeping area of my larger tents....

I have not yet used my bedroom carpets for my picnic, I would definitely try this. Using soft wool rug will be really great to use during picnic time in the tent.
I've just bought a carpet for the sleeping pod area of our tent. As we are hoping to do some camping in colder seasons, I figured we needed to cosy up our sleeping area a bit.
We have a Vango Iris 500 and bought an Outwell Corvette Medium carpet. I just scoured the internet to find a tent that had a living area that was the same dimensions as the sleeping area. I won't have chance to try it for a few more weeks but hopefully it will be fine as the size is an exact match. I managed to get the carpet in a sale on the Winfields website so it only cost £33, which I thought was pretty good given that they are usually £50+.
