Been away this weekend and have had zero tv reception. We have one of the multi directional round ones. We are now wondering which is the best way to go on buying an aerial.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.thanks

What is it going on? - tent, motorhome, caravan. I always use a normal household aerial, but you need to find out how to fit it.

If you have had zero TV reception there is a logical reason as to why. Firstly, have you always received a poor reception and have you got the booster switch set correctly?
We also have the round omni-directional roof aerial on an old caravan and we always get a good reception where ever we go even under trees but you can adjust the booster accordingly if you are pitched in a valley or are too near to the TV mast. If you don't have the booster switch on the correct setting you will sometimes struggle to get a good reception.

We could never get anything with a Omni directional so we used the one we had for camping. Bought at B&Q for £19 it's a normal household one with a lot of "fingers", always got good reception. When used in a tent we had a set of plastic shelves from Morrisons (designed for a childs bedroom)and with a bit of modification the ariel fitted into the bit where the leg would go if you were extending the height. Never any problem.

Our Omni directional never worked before digital but it does now.
We also have an Vision Plus aerial on a pole that clips to the rails on the side of the van,you have to turn the aerial horizontal or vertical depending on the signal.
You are using a tv with a digital tuner aren't you or a digi box,if not no signal.
Is the booster turned on?
We also have a dish on a tripod and take our sky box and card from home.

Some of the earlier Status boosters were prone to failing, so it could simply be a duff power pack/booster. There have also been 'questionable' fittings used for the UHF plug which can short out and give loss of performance.
Of course, the one obvious, is whether the Op tried to retune the TV for where they were.

Unfortunately there are too many variables, so unless you can beg or borrow boosters to try, it's difficult to diagnose an aerial fault.

If all else fails, I don't think you can beat on of these for value, as I know several folk who've used these and got on with them well.

Finally, if you're getting a directional aerial, it's well worth getting a decent signal finder too. Mine allows me to set the aerial position in less than 2 minutes. UHF TV signal finder, part 212-200

Thanks all for the advice. My husband tried the booster in all different ways, but no success.. The week previously we had intermittent signal. The caravan is a 2005 model. So today we bought an aerial!! Hopefully on our next jaunt the kids will have ceebeebies lol. Not that tv is everything but it certainly helps on those rainy days.

We got one recommend by these that fits on jockey wheel. Works pretty good.   You need to make sure no wiring issue in van too if using the van socket. Lots of useful info on here too. link
