Hi, I'm relatively new to caravanning and just bought a 1995 Abbey 212 Vogue, delighted with the van but it doesn't have a stabiliser on it, been looking for an Alko AKS 1300 off EBAY, is their anything I should look for when buying second hand? Thanks in anticipation.
Jeff.
Obvious I know but the keys and locks are not numbered in any way so you need to make sure the lock comes with the correct keys .
Other than that, make sure you get the correct lock for your stabiliser.
Have a look at the Al-Ko website for help in identification.

Do you want a stabiliser hitch or a hitchlock, or both? AKS 1300 is ok for caravans up to 1360kg. You may need spacers to fit new hitch to caravan & these are included with hitch so if buying secondhand ensure the hitch includes all spacers & bolts. Also pads do wear out so an old hitch bought off ebay may need these replacing.
Plenty of us would say a properly loaded caravan does not need a stabiliser so you may want to save your money & just buy a box type hitch lock to fit your existing standard hitch. These are cheap enough less than £30 of a few quid off ebay if you can find one nr home.
