My local council delivered us a camping toilet free of charge, which I thought was good of them. Dont know how they knew we went camping though.

Luggable loo here. Bucket with a loo seat and lid, not so hard to carry and empty every day.

We used to take a nappy bucket but it took up too much room so I bought one of these, light and folds flat and just use wooden cat litter and bin liners, ideal.

Is it not unhealthy sleeping in a tent alongside a Richard the Third?

...and I don't mean your other half!

I'm sure it would be, Bob... and certainly most unpleasant too!

I'd wager though, that the vast majority of us, if not all, take it for granted we are discussing number one's only? (Although I did notice one post mentioning a child and "code brown" which I took to mean in a rare/last resort/"emergency" situation?)

What's wrong with taking the budgie camping.

It's a portaloo for us. These seal the err... matter in the bottom tank along with chemicals. They come in small low ones or big high ones. We went for the bigger one as I don't think I'd get up off the low one.

ASDA have got collapsible buckets but I would not recommend sitting on them.

We have a rule that anyone wanting more than a wee goes to the toilet block.

anything....*solid* has to be done in the proper toilet block, unless as stated a child emergency 'code brown' which would be dealt with immediatly!! ewwww!!!

As some of you have said Kampa Khazi for us. I love mine lol. It may take a lot of room in our car. We have a 5 door Fiat Punto plus roof box My tent pack is enormous but we get it all in. We filled the loo with food stuffs (its cleaned) tape lid down turn it upside down and fill again.

I chuckle everytime I use mine, no night time trips to loos for us, only used for tinkles. x

I would say its in my top five of must haves.!!!

We use the Kampa Khazi with silica gel cat litter - it completely absorbs the moisture from whatever you deposit, eliminating the smells and making disposal much more pleasant than any chemical loo. It's revolutionised our camping experience.

To save space in transit, we put the liners, cat litter and loo roll inside the Khazi bucket.
