Only those of us who want them to be a barrier against the wind, otherwise people use the tent pole type which fall over in a breeze!

Having tried the tent pole type windbreaks and found them way too much hassle and useless as windbreaks, we have returned to proper, wooden poled windbreaks.
The OPs of the plastic protector is a good idea but like others, I would prefer to make my own from the scrap I have lying around.

What I've found, in my limited experience admittedly, is that with the knock in pole type, you can't tension the windbreak material, particularly across the top, which is normally the prime location for catching the wind, so whilst it may be ok to sit behind, sheltered from the wind, it's constantly flapping, and if it's the crinkly plastic sort, the "crisp packet" effect can get quite annoying after a while... particularly if it belongs to a neighbour, rather than your own! 
On the rare occasion I've used one, it's been the sort with guys on each pole, and have always managed to get nice, taut material from top to bottom, so no flapping, and have never had so much as a peg pull out, or a pole begin to lean, let alone fall to the ground.
very much a case of "each to their own", this subject!
