Hi. So I've taken the plunge and bought the above for our family holidays. Haven't been camping in years but with 3 small boys will ensure we make good use of it over the next 8years and hoping this site will help me along the way and over the years I'll pay back and give advice when I get more experienced.
I'm looking at dinas camping site in Wales...
Does anyone know the size of the monty 6p with awning with and without guide ropes. I want to book and it's saying max size of pitch / Dimensions Max 7.0m x 7.0m (23.0ft x 23.0ft). Will they allow my monty 6p with awning???
Also has anyone found the size a problem with campsite owner rules?
Thanks in advance
Without the extension, it measures 6.25m long by 5.3m wide so it will not really fit on a 7m pitch if you add the guys to that measurement. Ideally these need to be approximately 1m from the tent, meaning you would need a pitch at least 8.25 long by 7.3m wide. However, if you keep the guys closer to the tent it may just fit!
Obviously you will need an even bigger pitch if you add the extension, which would not fit on a 7m pitch.
Also remember that in many cases, your vehicle also needs to fit on your pitch too!
It all depends on the individual campsite as there is no such thing as a standard pitch size on independent sites. There are lots of sites around that will have pitches big enough and there are lots that won't.
I've got the month 6 with extension and have always phoned ahead to sites and asked for the largest pitch. As long as it's not peak times and you give them plenty of notice I've never had any problems
This year I have hit my only site where I've been told no, blue dolphin in Filey which is a shame as I'd like the space to avoid going to Haven entertainment every night
