Good luck with your butchering. I managed to pick up 3 3.9kg Propane cylinders on gumtree for £20. Sold 1 for a tenner and kept the other as a spare. You could sell your cylinders? An exchange for a full one at go outdoors was £14. The regulator was £11 +/- from a gas supplier.

I will try and find it, or take a new picture this weekend as we are camping. It's definitely worth doing though.

I've just bought one of these stoves too. I was fully aware the disposable canisters are a rip-off but now it appears the are very hard to source also! Go outdoors only have them in a few random branches and even then there's only 1 or 2. Hardly ideal if you run out on campsite. So i've decided to go ahead with the conversion.

Could I use a regulator like this?
(Millets call this 1mbar but it clearly shows 1Bar on it and it is labelled as high pressure)

https://www.millets.co.uk/equipment/152250-propane-fixed-1mbar-regulator.html

Also what hose do i need? Is the orange LP hose ok or do i need the black HP hose?

I too have been struggling to get the Coleman cylinders and then discovered that actually they are standard CGA600 connections which are quite commonly used by plumbers for propane gas torches. (See the picture of the Coleman cylinder) and are available from most plumbing shops. The cheapest I've found online are https://www.wonkeedonkeetools.co.uk/gas-cylinder-propane-cga600-fitting.html. Hope this helps!

Cool thanks Tim! useful to know you can use a blow torch gas bottle if you get stuck.
I'm wondering if you use that adaptor if you can use the coleman C500 cannisters which are EN417. i have a load of these in the shed. they're propane/butane mix though not 100% propane.

OK so i am going to have the bulk cylinder option so ordered the hose for that from the states as i want to retain the option of disposoble cylinders too for portability. As i already had a bunch of Coleman C500 cannisters in the shed i thought i'd give this adapter (CGA600 to EN417) a go.
The good news is it works! the threads were a bit rough and when i first put it on i had to wind it back every 1/4 turn to clean it up. Cant see much differenece in the flame. I know the C500 cans are 70% butane, 30% propane but are much cheaper!

Hi Simon

I too would really appreciate a picture of your setup. I've just bought one of these for next summer and have concluded that you've got the Coleman hose, with the end cut off, attached to a propane cylinder with a regulator attached (I read on an Amazon that this would be appropriate; https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F253978824555)

Can you confirm and ideally send me a picture please as I'm not super confident of the modification. Thanks a lot!

I will find the picture for you, but that's what I did. The link doesn't seem to work for the regulator you have suggested. I have an adjustable regulator as a standard propane regulator doesn't have a high enough flow for the stove. It was definitely worth the modification.
