we have 2 outwell triton lanterns which we love but they are too heavy for the ceiling of the tent IMO. I like the dual function of the lanterns So don't want a castor pendant.

Can anyone recommend a lightweight led (warm) lantern, minimum 20 led for brightness

I used this one in my tent for the first time this weekend. It is definitely bright enough, and light enough to hang from the ceiling,

The number of LEDs is no indication of light output. This is usually done in Lumens. A 40 watt incandescant light bulb would give you about 450 lumens. The brightest battery powered LED lanterns would give you up to 600 lumens, but 250 to 300 is more common.

As far as weight is concerned, that's mostly determined by the batteries. The brightest lanterns will use 3 to 6 D cell batteries at about 150g each. That's at least 500g, probably no lighter than the lanterns you have.

Your best option for a lightweight alternative would be for an LED lantern that uses AA batteries. Most of those will only give you 125 lumens tops. I have a UST 10 day lantern which gets 250 lumens out of 6 AA baterries, but it weighs 400g, which might still be too heavy for you. Unfortunately it's also quite hard to come by.
