Hi, what wheel clamps do you guys recommend?. I want one thats not too big and heavy but obviously will work and puts people off of trying to steal trailer. I have seen the sas hd1 which looks good but have just come across the breckland lockfast which looks easy to store straight down the side of the trailer with out taking up too much room. Any body use either of these, or know of any decent deals worth looking at?
My trailer has 13" steel wheels
Many thanks.
My caravan has 13" steel rimmed wheels and have been using an SAS HD1 wheel clamp for the past 4 years because it is quick and easy to fit plus easy to store when not in use. The HD1 model is specifically designed for steel rimmed wheels only because the wheel bolts are not recessed like alloy wheels are but what you have to beware of is the width of tyre because on a wider tyre you will require the SAS extension tube to take up the extra distance.
The extension tubes come in 3 lengths which are 1", 1.5" and 2" lengths which I have the 1" fitted due to the tyre being a 175 x 13.
Mind you I have seen some trailers on sites held in by a clamp that screws into the ground to, I guess so they are much harder to lift up, I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Take note and look at the photo in the link as this particular clamp fits flush across the face of the wheel which is designed only for alloy wheels with recessed wheel bolts although it does say that it fits both steel and alloy. Best to double check first.
We use a Nemesis Ultra on our Brenderup, a little fiddly to set up first time but after that dead easy to use and store.

It was a bit of a stuggle to fit to 13" steel trailer wheels the first time I used it but does fit.

Yep my experience too on an Anssems wheel.

Our one looks a bit like this in style, but is all yellow.
We also use a hitch lock. I'm sure it can be easily removed but
1. For showing would be thieves- keep away
2. To slow them down in taking our trailer
3. Might even stop them completely as is it worth it for them to try on a campsite (keep trailer in garage at home).
In other words keep away and don't steal our trailer and stuff in it.
Thanks, I did see the Nemesis Ultra and asked the question about fitting on steel wheels and they told me nits only for alloys?, Is it just because its fiddly to line up the bar with the holes in the rim ?
Our Brenderup has steel wheels, it can be a bit fiddly to line up but it works for us, we use it now on our caravan. There is a foam sleeve over the bar that fits through the wheel, if you remove the sleeve it fits easier.

Are you wasting your money??? the iq zeros would throw the whole thing into the back off a van and be gone in seconds.
to stop opportunists iq zeros, take a wheel off and put it in the boot.
easy on easy off.
In my case I would have to remove two wheels as my spare sits across the A frame. And yes you are right if they really want it there is little you can do.

Thats the problem, nothing will actually stop them taking it if they really want it. Its just a deterrent that would make their job harder, and to go look for something easier.
We do have a clamp but its one I used to make at work for a big company that wanted them for their plant trailers, but its meant for leaving on while on site for weeks, and as such is really heavy and takes up too much room in the car. I think ill look for a second hand one on ebay.
