We have been given an almost full 4.5kg Calor Gas bottle by a neighbour. It has been stood in his garage for more years than he can remember. The bottle and fixtures look to be in good condition but does Calor Gas deteriorate with time or will it be OK to use. I have already ordered a new regulator and hose.
As far as I'm aware LPG gas doesn't have a shelf life so it should be okay to use. If you read the info below it states that it doesn't deteriorate over time.
I have a 15 kg bottle and it lasts for years. There is no reason for it to go 'off' as such
I use the bigger bottle to maintain the pressure. Had to many occasions when the pressure would drop when using it for a while I.e. Both rings and the oven all at the same time.
My parents gave me there 4.5kg bottle 2 weeks ago. It had been stored in the garage and last used in 2003. The bottle is half full, and i just changed the tubing as it had started to perish. Connected it up to my camping gaz cooker and all is fine. I dont think gas has a best before date. As long as the bottle, regulator and tubing is ok then i think it should be good to use. The gas in my little camping gaz stove ( the one where you insert the gas cartridge and screw in the burner) is well over 15 yrs old and is still ok.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
