I know many of you caravan all year round, and some have said they have a cover on the aquaroll to stop it freezing. Do they really work? Is it worth having one?
------------- Enjoy life while you can, none of us know what's round the corner!
There are many cheaper solutions. If you have an old fleece jacket then zip that around the aquaroll and stick the pipe up one of the sleeves and you get the same result. If you make sure that you have a full aquaroll at night then the covers work ( especially if you stand your aquaroll on something to lift it off the ground ), but ithe less water you have in the barrel the more likely it is to freeze.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
We were away for New Year on a fully serviced pitch. Our aquaroll was constantly half full (as we connect it to the pitch water supply using one of the valve based hose pipes). It had a cover on it plus an extra small home-made cover for the pipe into the caravan. The aquaroll (and it's insulated base) were kept off the ground on a few wooden blocks.
When we came to pack up there was no ice in the aquaroll and the inlet pipe was fine but the unprotected hose was frozen solid.
bubble wrap with an old jacket around it - you can always stand it in one of those pop up garden waste bags which you can buy from the £1 shops. We use one of them for transporting the aquaroll
I bought an aquaroll insulation cover about 4 years ago and it did work when the temperature plummeted to -5 degrees but as 'gould300' said the only part that froze was the water in the pipe between the pump and inlet housing. However, the year after I bought some 22 mm. foam pipe insulation which is available from most DIY outlets which comes in 1 metre length and just cut it to length I required which then solved the problem.
Yes, the instructions do state that the insulation cover helps to keep the water cool in warm weather.
Below is an aquaroll insulation cover (not a bag) which includes the pipe insulation too and if you read the information it clarifies that it keeps water cool during the summer months.
Our is reversible and has a silvered inside surface so it can be turned inside out. The shiny side reflects the sun and helps with keeping it cool (probably, I've never really tested that theory).
