Hi

Been away this weekend camping and after waking up pretty much on the floor of the tent after the old airbed decided to collapse at some point during the night I went and bought the above one a couple of nights ago.

I havent much experience with airbeds but the past twice ive used it it seems to have become softer than it should have by the next day. I know that this is a pretty subjective thing and hard to describe, not soft enough so that when one moves the other is moved around but just seems to be a bit softer than it should. is this normal for most airbeds? I've beeb thinking of returning it but not sure if i'm overreacting, just dont want to put up with a problem if i dont have to, especially from something ive just bought. any thoughts would be welcome :)

We just got back from our first long camping trip and had treated ourselves to a double height air bed with built in electric pump to take with us.
We were nice and snug when we went to bed under out duvet and other bedding from home only to wake in the small hours both sunk into the middle of the bed.
Luckily we both have a good sense of humour and had a chuckle and did our best to get some sleep.
Next night was the same so the following morning it went in the trailer and we went back to our sim with our sleeping bag on top then our bedding and it was very snug.
After reading about other people's experiences with air beds we are now looking at double camp beds.
If you are interested I have a double height air bed for sale.
Used twice,good condition except for small leak.lol ;-)
I have learnt that a good sense of humour is essential for camping.

thanks for the reply, totally agree, a good sense of humour is a must! yeah our first one was a bit like sleeping on a water bed that had a bad storm going on inside it lol. when one moved the other knew about it! hence the buying of the second one but not overly impressed with that either. ive given it some evil looks lol but still making up my mind about taking it back before our next trip away....

Could it be the colder temps at night causing the air pressure to drop?

possibly yeah hadnt thought of that.should maybe give it another shot when im away camping before deciding anything. have been looking online at other airbeds tonight trying to find reviews but not found much so far.

If it's something to do with the colder temperatures then would it be possible to pump it up and sleep on it at home for a night? You could see if there's any difference.

I would suggest pumping it up a bit more at night (being careful not to overinflate).
Release a bit of air in the morning if it's still firm in case the warmer daytime temps cause the pressure to increase too much.

thanks, I inflated it pretty well i think without overinflating when we were camping. it was firm enough at night but had lost firmness overnight, could that be the colder temps yeah? I was wondering if that was the case would it not firm itself up again over the course of the day as the temp rose? Just wondered, dont know much about that to be honest.

Not sure if i have the room to experiment at home but I'll see. thanks :)

if it didn't firm up again then it's more likely to be
a slow leak.

hmm, ok thanks. might take it back after all, just wouldnt want to use it for a while then take it back and give the shop a chance to say i must have damaged it myself when its been a bit soft (in my opinion) from the start. was only an emergency buy so didnt have time to look at reviews. anyone got any suggestions? would need to be a double and no more than about £40.....

My friends are waxing lyrical about the Coleman Durarest, they have had sims - didn't get on with them and an aerobed ...like mine spent most of its time back at aerobeds returns dept.

They have only started using it this season but are convinced it is the best air bed they have ever used in nearly 20 years of camping.
