I am looking for a waterproof footprint for my 5m bell tent. I tried looking for a large sheet of tarpaulin but I have read that even 150gsm tarpaulins are not waterproof. 5x5m tarpaulins more than 150gsm seem horribly expensive.

I also looked at tyveks but can't find a sheet big enough.

Finally I read that most tent footprints are waterproof. There are only few tents that are 5m wide but I found that the hi Gear Frontier 8 and Oasis 8 are more than 5m wide. Just wondering if those who have used the footprints that are made for these tents can tell me if they are waterproof.

Any other suggestions or advise on what can make a good
waterproof footprint, please share

I got a builders tarp from ebay, about £17 I think. I don't see why it wouldn't be waterproof - anyway, the main objective is to keep the mud off, if it gets wet then it'll dry up in minutes in sunlight!

I had the choice of three thicknesses but I deliberately chose the medium as I didn't want too big a pack size.

Good point on medium size thickness. Thanks!

Obelink sell them for the bell tent (think they call it the Sahara) - would probably work out more expensive than a builders tarp though but obviously is already cut to shape with eyelets.
