Hi all

I'm a complete Noob to camping and wondered if someone could help please? I am going camping in July and have bought a Yellowstone Double Burner with Grill. However I am totally confused what type of gas this uses. On the "site" I bought it from it says recommended items and it shows a pack of 4 gas canisters (like aerosol cans). 2x questions:

1) Will these work (butane I think they are)
2) What type of regulator do these use and again would this work with the stove?

Looking at the Q/A it says they are not screw cap so would a clip on regulator work?

Sorry for the silly questions but I dont want to go and buy the wrong gas.

The canisters don't have a regulator as they click directly into a suitcase style stove.

For your stove and grill you will need to buy a gas bottle and regulator. Butane is fine for warm weather camping as temperature needs to be above about 3'C to gas properly.
If you plan to camp early or late in the season, propane is better as it will still work in sub zero temperatures.

You need small sized gas bottle. Calor 4.5kg butane will do the job. If you can find one on a car boot sale so much the better, money saved. You need correct regulator to go with, length of rubber gas hose and 2 jubilee clips. Dip hose ends in boiling water to soften and push over nipples then secure with jublee clips.

Thx for the reply. If I can get hold of a gas bottle (car boot etc) when it needs refilling don't I need some sort of reflling receipt or something? Have looked at the calor site and it says you need this to refill?

Sorry for the 20 questions

Hi.. You never used to need any paperwork, (eg-the initial hire agreement)when getting a refill?...

You only needed that if handing the cylinder back in(and then getting a % of the initial "deposit" refunded)..

I've yet to take any paperwork in with me...

(..in fact, I haven't got any for the one cylinder..because they'd let me swap from a 6kg to a 13kg, and didn't update any documentation...).

...and don't forget to try your local tip (sorry!.."Recycling Facility" ), as dependant on what their policy is, they may let you have one for a fiver....?

..also, it's worth just putting the word out around family, friends, workmates etc. as it's surprising how many folk have old cylinders just sitting at the back of their garages or behind their sheds!...
