The tent pole on my outwell montreal has split. It is the sort of pole that makes an arch (made of about 10 sections that slot together with an elastic running through). Need advice on how to fix it.
Also wondered if I'm doing something wrong when pitching my tent to fracture the pole or is this something that happens easily?
Most camping shops sell spare poles, not very expensive. You can easily thread the elastic through again with a piece of wire with a hook bent on the end to fit the elastic through, or buy the one for doing the job from the camp shop. Also they sell new elastic if needed.
Wind some insulation tape tightly round the pole, covering the whole length of the split. It'll do as a temporary repair until you can get a new section from a camping shop.

Outwell tents usually have Durawrap poles, wrapped with aluminium wire to help reduce splitting.
Make sure that any replacement pole sections you buy are the same type as those already fitted, not just the same diameter.
Does the tent not have some spare poles in the bag? They usually come with an extra one or 2, although you may need to cut it.
As well as wrapping tape around the pole to join it back together you can use string, also tightly wouldnt you can soak it in glue if you have the time or wrap in string and then tape over it.
