Hio all, I know that there's been a lot of comments on the benefits of gas portable BBQ's, but thought I'd ask for any any up to date recommendations. We have a Campingaz Picnic with a piezo that's gone wrong so looking for a good portable camping grill with the versatility to roast and looking at the Cadac Safari (but the cooking area is a bit small), Campingaz compact LXR, Weber Q1000, but liked the look of Outdoorcity grill which they have stopped doing...any thoughts appreciated?

I have used a weber q100 to cook roast many times. Going into a butcher with a tape measure so I can get the correct leg of lamb can be amusing. Whatever you buy you need a decent lid height for it to fit. I'm biased but I wouldn't look beyond weber.

We have the weber q1200. Same grill area as 1000 but higher lid and thermostat so good for roasting. We do small chickens on ours no problem

Ok so it's not Gas, but a Cobb will roast, bake, grill or fry

Just to add, if you buy Weber they are generally cheapest at BBQ World, part of Dawsons. Google them. We bought ours there and very good price and service.

I have Outdoorchef City, as mentioned by OP. Had it probably 7 or 8 years now. It's the table-top variety. Still going strong, just apart from having to re-tighten the screws in the legs. Really great item. A bit too bulky for many, but worth it for us. Not used the Cobb at all since we bought this.

Got mine from Costco, and not seen them in there for a few years.

Quick Google suggests they are still available elsewhere, though. Amazon for example.

I got fed up with mine catching setting fire to the fat in the drip tray. Got rid and bought a weber. Would never buy a cadac again.

yes i had heard that, considering what cadac are charging you shouldn't need to put water in a bbq to stop it catching fire.

the Weber works fine and has a drip tray away from the burner unlike cadac.

Having bought one of these earlier this year the Cadac chef pan version that is, my friend has also just got one from the same place, they are charging 164.00 delivered but I was local enough to collect 160.00. Give them a ring for best price though, if you look for this item number on ebay 171828218468 but as I say give them a call the number is in the listing. I seem to remember the girl I spoke to advised against the roast pan though.
