The point I was trying to make was that a friend of mine ( a policeman) has pointed out that as the blade "locks" it is classed as a fixed blade and is hence not suitable to be carried on a day to day basis. It is not a problem to buy almost any sort of knife, hunting knife, Bowie knife, samurai sword etc. It is only an offence to carry them in public!
It may be an offence sometimes, but not always. .
There are plenty of referances (inculding an Act) that say it is not an offence to carry a fixed blade (or locked knife > 3") in Public if you have a 'reasonable excuse' for carrying it.
