I’ve started using a Calor Gas 3.9kg Propane bottle for my Coleman stove. I’m new to larger gas cylinders and I only have space to take one bottle and don’t want to run out while camping in France for 2 weeks.
My understanding is that the empty bottle weight is stamped on its metal collar. If that’s correct, in kgs my bottle weighs 5.8 kgs empty. With 3.9 kgs of propane in, it should weigh roughly 9.7 kgs.
I’ve used it a few times and it now weights 8.6kgs. My maths says that means I have around 2.8kgs, ie loads.
I was in a similar position, but kept a track of how much gas was used per number of nights camped.
In your case, that would be 1.1 (kg gas used so far) divided by "A few times"!
If you can elaborate on that last bit of the equation, you can then calculate the average amount of gas used per night away. Based on the assumption that your gas usage in France is likely to be similar to that used already, that will then give you an idea of just how many nights you have left before it runs out... In theory, at least!
the semi useless magnet monitors only work when the gas is running
