I was looking at a similar type and wondered myself whether that might be a problem. I use the tighter weave carpet and have never had that happen, they are virtually indestructible.
Awning Carpet
Fouteen quid a metre in our local caravan shop but probably cheaper online and lasts forever, ours is 20 years old and scrubs up like new every time.
