Have tried to look at it and it looks like it could be the microswitch which will need me having to take apart bits of the under sink cupboard to get at the mechanism........unless you know of an easier way !!
If it's the microswitch, that would also affect the hot water - I think, but to access the microswitch, there's a small plug on the top of the tap which yo can easily pop out using a fine blade or craft knife. Unscrew the philips screw hidden under that and simply pull the handle off the tap. The m/s is there.

Had same problem 2 weeks ago, it is the microswitch and its a dodle to do just pop out the hot& cold indicator on top of tap take screw out and lift top off,slide switch out disconnect the 2 wires going on to the terminals and connect to new switch and re-assemble 5 minute job switch cost me 4 quid
Hi swebster we havent had the same problem we had to replace the full tap. sounds like it is the microswitch it is easy to replace i would prob try that first as its prob the cheapest option also. just follow redphil55 instructions or if you get stuck message back will try and help as much as possible.
