To cook with the pizza stone you need the bottom deflector plate, wire grid and then the pizza stone on top. Always put it on cold and heat it up, never put a cold stone on a hot stove otherwise it may crack. Don't have the gas too high or the bottom of the pizza will burn before the topping is cooked. Sprinkle flour on before you put the pizza on as well to stop it sticking. It cooks best if you put the lid on too. They recommend not washing it in soapy water as the stone can absorb the fragrance. I leave it to cool, scrape off any burnt or stuck bits then wipe with clear warm water. It's a great bit of kit and revolutionised our mealtimes. You can't beat pizza when you get the beer munchies!
