Hi all.
We have a Sky set up for the caravan and can get most of the channels we would want without using a viewing card. I have read somewhere that Sky do a non subscription card for a one off fee of around £25. Is there any advantage to thus as it appears to get no more channels than I can late already get. 1 more question, would I be able to record on my box, currently it says 'insert viewing car's when I press the record button.
Thanks

your right its the recording facility that you get with the £25 card but is it worth it, most of the channels you get without the card can be found on freeview.
You could buy a freeview box that records and leave all the sky equipment at home.

if Sky charge £10 a month for the recording facility why do you need to pay £25 for a card??? the Sky box will recive lots of channels for free, without the card and will work as a freesat box.
You can even re-tune it to show just the channels you want
and get rid of all the rubbish channels.
Or buy one of these from ebay it will give you all the freeview channels and record pause live tv and do all the usual tricks app £15, or app £25 for a new one

Not if, they do charge £10.25 for the recording facility.

The £25 card adds about 6 FTV (Free to View) channels such Motors UK TV, and also the regional variants by postcode of BBC and ITV to the first few channels, others are in the 960's or in the case of ITV can be added by 'Add Channels', except some HD variants.

Cheers all, great advice, not sure it's worth getting one as there are enough channels for us. Never considered a Freesat box though, May be worth a look in the future.
