Been given a Cadac safari chef, lucky us as we are keen to get started. Currently we use a single gas stove (out of the suitcase type) used on a camping kitchen stand. However, we would like to use the Cadac for everything such as kettle, pans etc. Can it be safely used with the little legs folded under or must it be used legs out?
Secondly, which gas do most people use, we're thinking of a smallish Calor or Camping gaz cylinder with hose + regulator not the Cadac twin canister system, all advice very gratefully received! Thanks.
Use it with the legs out if your putting it on some table I assume that's why you dont want the height of the legs as it will get warm underneath and may burn table dependent on usage. grab a 4.5 calor of some sorts or speak to relatives friends see what they have stored in their shed Id be amazed if one relative or friend has a gas bottle they aren't using. if not good old ebay you'll find lots for sale to save paying fortune on the deposit

Ah thats a result. If you do struggle with the height this year when on floor. Assuming no one would know or be offended sell the safari chef and get the Carri chef chef pan version its a perfect height and a serious piece of kit, at 164 delivered I paid for mine its a bit more pricey but well worth it IMHO.

run my Cadac off both Calor ( when its attached to van )
or Camping Gaz if using oven ( not enough pressure) or want to be further away from van
the only advantages to a Camping gaz over Calor is the bottle sizes,if your size restricted which you look like you may well be on the trike as they go down to very small
1.4kg ( with 0.45g of gas)
4.6kg ( with 1.8kg of gas)
6.4kg ( with 2.75kg of gas)
Camping Gaz is mixed Butane propane so should be Ok for 95% of UK weather
you also have ability to change abroad if you run out , which you will have trouble with Calor
Smallest Calor being
10.2 Kg ( with 4.5 of Butane) for warmer weather
OR
9.6Kg ( with 3.9kg of propane) only really needed if camping below 10 deg C but will work at higher temps
disadvantage to Camping gaz is cost! the 2.75 KG will cost the same or more than 4.5 KG Calor
