Anyways,
so im looking to buy a Trailer for our camping trips it the first time i have towed or even thought about buying one, i dont want nothing huge as i dont see the point just somethink what will suit our need, this is what i have been looking at so far to buy

Erde 102 Car Trailer

in total it come to £387.94 inc deliver, is this a good price?

Erde 102.2 Car Trailer

The Erde 102.2 Car Trailer is a small, lightweight trailer suitable for carrying loads of up to 245kg. It has a drop down rear tailgate, which makes loading quick and easy, as well as having a quick release tipping facility.

The trailer is lightweight but strong as it is constructed from robust galvanised steel. The base has full strength straightening ribs and the metal mudguards which ensure that the trailer is strong and durable for long journeys and regular use.

The rear lights on the trailer are protected which means you can choose to store the trailer vertically without worrying about damaging the lights.

The reason iv choose this is because it light galvanised steel and it will fit our "overflow" bit in so your car is not full to the brim

my questions are are we making the correct choice? do i have everything i need for a safe to tow trailer? any help would be gratefully received,

Yes it looks like you have everything covered in your list. Only thing you don't mention is a secondary coupling like a chain or clip to attach in case the hitch fails. It might come with that new though

Price seems ok with all the extras for new but if it were me I would be looking for one on gumtree. You can get some good deals with trailers in very good condition

Only problem with the Erde 102 is that it has small wheels and vibrates when towing we used foam floor mats on the base of the trailer and the sides to protect what we were carrying as the vibration could wear a hole into a tent bag very quickly. We changed the Erde for a Brenderup which has bigger wheels and towed far better.

Erde are ok for occasional use but you want a bigger one than that. Go for an erde 122 which is still a small trailer in the overall scheme of things but will give you a bit more flexibility in use.
I had one for several years without problem.

The 122 has an optional hard top (if a bit price new). A bit more secure and water proof than a tarp. Was a must have for me when I bought our 122 - I went for a second hand one with the only extra expense being some new wheels as the old tyres were cracking in places.

Think long and hard about the size you want. The 102 is a small trailer.

As far as l'm aware all Erde trailers are fitted with chain emergency coupling as standard.

Buying used would get more bang for your buck. I bought an Erde 122 3 years ago used, it had the abs lid too, spare wheel, jockey wheel for £350 and looked new. I just sold it for £450 (although I did add used load bars for a further £50), so it's cost nothing for 3 years use. Buying new you are taking the hit....

I would echo the comments of those at are saying have a look at a used trailer, I've just got a cracking little 4x3 wooden trailer, I got a new cover and a light board today also from " the auction site" and so far I've spent £125 !! I will also be extending the sides at some time,as I'm sure that my lovely Mrs will find new equipment that we " can't do without" !!
And without a doubt fit a break away chain.

so after reading this we have changed our minds and we going to fine the erde 122 trailer, we looking into the secondhand options too, it makes seance to.. the chain we you guys have mentioned, i talk thats just for added security from car to trailer just incase it breaks away from the car?

were new to towing too and have just bought this as too time pressed to look for 2nd hand (going away on Saturday!) http://www.halfords.com/motoring-travel/travel-accessories/trailers-accessories/erde-122-car-trailer - just bought what the guy from Halfords said to get and followed the advice from fellow campers on here and haven't got half of what you listed.. hope we haven't made a boo boo ...

If buying second hand. You can buy a spare wheel separately (you don't need to have one but 'THE LAW' says that when you have filled it full of garden stuff to go 5 min's down the road to the tip you will need that spare wheel and not have one!). We always travel with one.

We have a hitch lock and several wheel clamps and the brands do not match our trailer. The wheel clamps were bought second hand. It will NOT stop anyone from stealing the trailer. It will hopefully deter them or slow them down.

So today if been offered a wooden trailer by a mate for £20 it been sat in there garden for the last year ,I've had a look and seems ok but I'm not no expert so can say it fine, it metal base with wooden side and bottom, spring suspension (but I can see the weight label) is it worth a risk? I will need replacement side and bottom I'd say, I can't see no rust or erosion but again I'm no expert ..,, choose choice

I think the tyres and possibly the wheel bearings are the main items to check, tyre walls can crack when stood.
