Hello
Our last camping trip we were freezing sitting outside, many around us although told not permitted had fire pits. These looked and smelled lovely but I kept watching the Sparks going near the tent. I've just seen in EBay a halogen outdoor patio heater, would this be ok to use with the EHU? I need to be cosy watching the stars.
As with all electrical equipment on EHU you need to know
how many amps it takes so as not to trip the supply.

Thank you for your replies. It's certainly put me if asking a question for a while.
I haven't bought one I saw one on EBay and probably wouldn't I just wondered about them and thought this the best place to ask.
As for wearing a coat do you think I'm sitting in my shorts and t-shirt?
Don't be put off asking a question just because you may not like the answer ...
..but to be far to some of the respondents, running any electric heater (let alone a bright halogen one) outside a tent, whilst sitting looking at the stars, is bl**dy daft idea...
(..would you run an electric heater in your garden at home..?)
When we're sitting outside the tent or van having a drink, if it gets nippy at night we just use a couple of old blankets/throws...
I agree that, as appealing as they may be, "real" fires (with their sparks and embers) can. and do, make a mess of lightweight tent fabrics....
I've considered something similar for home - we have solar panels so it would be a way of using up (science teacher in me hates that!) stored energy. I can't imagine they're that effective though.
What I do love is my fleecy electric over blanket from Aldi. I'd imagine that would have you warm and snug. I also recommend a sheepskin underneath you.

It was the best place to ask!
You asked a fair question, and from what I can see, you got fair and honest answers. I wouldn't let this put you off asking further questions, and I certainly wouldn't take anything personally. I wouldn't say there was anything offensive in the replies, either.
I once posted pics of me waterproofing my guylines... and making a silver jacket for my cool box. Trust me, the replies you just had were nothing in comparison to what I recieved!!

Wouldn't bother with patio heater, I think it's a waste of energy. I have a 12v heated blanket with a 5 in 1 power station battery to plug it into so I can sit where I want to. This along with layers is very snug when looking at the stars.
Lugging a patio heater about with extra gubbins and where would you store it when not in use on site are additional things to consider.
We have been known to get through a pint of meths in the trangia sitting outside under a tarp. It takes the chill off. Terribly uneconomical though.
