I passed my bike test in March this year and have recently tried some touring & rallies. This is something I'm keen to do more of in future, but obviously luggage space is extremely limited.

I'm a very big lad at 6'2" and very heavy, so I need a heavy duty chair, but I also need something small enough to pack on the bike. I recently bought a Vango Samson chair for camping - which I love - but it's just too big to take on the bike along with my tent and other luggage (my tent isn't the smallest - it's an Urban Escape Osaki 3 man tent).

Can anyone recommend a decent heavy duty chair (or other item that can double as a chair??) that packs up relatively small?

The only thing I've found so far that might fit the bill is a Vango inflatable chair, but the fear with this is that it might be easily burst if it's inadvertently sat on a stone or something.

Apologies if this has been covered on the forum before, but I couldn't find any related posts.

Thanks

I have just the chair for you. This Quechua chair from Decathlon is surprisingly strong, and had a deep seat. I'm no lightweight and I find this strong enough to hold me when most chairs fail after a few uses. It's actually a bit too deep for me but with you being taller you'll probably find it better.

It is unusual in that it has a strap attached to the actual chair, rather than a bag. It is fantastic for festivals because you can carry it around with you. It folds up very compact, about half the space of a normal camping chair.

The price is almost too good to be true. I think it's a bargain but it isn't really a lounging chair, as you are seated quite upright. But it is definately better than no chair!

I prefer an upright chair anyway to be honest, so I'll maybe try one out in my local Decathlon later this week. Cheers.

Any other ideas on this as we had a sit on one of these today and my husband moaned that there were no arms (obviously)!

Im still looking for other options too, in case the Qechua one mentioned above isn't as heavy duty as I want.

I bought something like this from go outdoors "
http://www.tesco.com/direct/yellowstone-serenity-xl-camping-chair-blue/128-5436.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=128-5436

It was very comfortable and for my husband but he said he didn't like it very much . He wanted a lounger to lay on.
But it was strong and comfy
