Hi. Can anyone recommend a roof bag for a Quashqai? Hard boxes are way too expensive. I saw lots of them this year in France on cars/motorhomes etc; there was even a roof bag fastened on top of a Pennine camper. At the time I wasn't interested in buying one so took no notice of the make. I'm sorry but I'm thinking Christmas present for my son in law. Thanks in advance.

Not a lot of choice when we looked a few years ago. Bought the Handiholdall from these guys - http://www.handiworld.com

It's a decent size - 320 litres I think - though packing it to the max is an artform. Bif faffy to get on and fastened down (we used normal roof bars). Construction solid enough not to worry about it on the roof in all weathers - although after a few trips I had to fix some loose stitching but no biggy.

It's not waterproof but we use big drybags inside and never had wet kit even when lots of water in the bag.

Biggest advantage of bags over boxes (beside cost) is ability to take off and roll up for storing in home or boot of car. But that also creates a disadvantage in that once bag empty (at eg campsite) then it has to be taken off the bars really, whereas box can be kept on.

If storage not an issue, I'd suggest looking for a second-hand roofbox as well as considering bags. We bought a big roofbox recently and life generally easier with it compared to bag.

We have a Qashqai and we went for a
HandiHoldall along with 2 HandiDuffels.

We've used it an heavy rain and with the duffels inside it's been fully waterproof and the duffels make loading really easy.

all the gear and no idea

Depends on how much space you want but I have a Handiduffel as mentioned above (in addition to a roofbox I have had for years)

Just cut and put inside some stiff board/metal and then you can use that directly attached to roofbars and still add bikes each side

Very weatherproof as tested last summers trip down to Germany. Simply bungy down and then lift off roof when onsite

Many thanks to you all for this useful information. I will look into the Handiholdall and the Handiduffel.
