We are very new to camping and my wife really struggles to sleep at night in the tent mainly due to her sleeping bag.
She is a slightly “larger" lady and the sleeping bag she currently uses is not good enough, even when we zip them together.
Therefore, what would you all recommend??? I really like the look of the MusucBag Classic Extra Large Bag for £99.99 from Argos.
Would this do the job or is it just a gimmick? If it's no good, what should I get her??? Really need to get sorted this weekend as we are camping again next week.
We gave up on sleeping bags after their second use & swapped to a duvet. However the last couple of times we've been, we've used the sleeping bags opened up as a duvet, which works really well. Plus the sleeping bags fit perfectly in the rear passenger foot wells when the seats are flat.
Something like the Outwell Constellation double sleeping bag might be more versatile. You can use it as two large double duvets (or as one massive one for the whole family) and it's a great 2-3 season bag when used as designed. Not sure I'd get on with the Musuc Bag but it'd be great for sleepwalkers.
I have a selk bag, which is the predecessor of the musuc bag.I love the freedom it give me as I am a rather restless sleeper, and there are no drafts: I am a size 20 and it is a comfy fit. On very cold nights I do need an extra layer and either wear thermals under it, or use one of our thin "quishion" quilts over me.
My OH tried a sell bag too but found it too warm. So for him we have a Vango Galaxy XL bag which is roomy and also handy at home as a spare quilt for guests. It packs into a stuff sack so it takes up less room than taking a duvet.
Of the two I would say that the Vango Galaxy XL is the best value for money : the musuc bags are expensive by comparison.
Just a thought, but do you think getting her a double sleeping bag to herself would do the trick?? Just found one on offer for £24.99. It's a Tresspass 400GSM Double Envelope Sleeping Bag??
We don't really have loads of room for a duvet, so ideally looking for a largish sleeping bag.
I have got one from Go Outdoors, it's a wider one, as I stretch out a lot and hate normal sleeping bags (I'm also a size 18!) - to be fair I've not used it yet but on the tester although it feels a little short, it's brilliant width ways but should still keep me warm as it's narrower at the top. Worth a look as only £20? (Not sure the quality or longevity of it!)
