Hi,
Both are used..
Should I get an erde 102 & buy a high side kit to go on it
OR
for an extra £50 get just an erde 142 (no high sides)
Please?
I've never had a trailer before but as a family of 5 we need one for camping holidays!
Thankyou
Rule of thumb when buying a trailer is always get the biggest one you can, you can always extend the 142 at a later date and make it even bigger if you need to, also it will have a heavier load capacity.
Good thinking batman 😀
A little worried that I may not find high sides for the 142 in the future (within the next year or so I expect) as the trailer itself has been discontinued & replaced with the 143- which has been built to take the weight of high sides. I wouldn't want to damage the 142 if it's not designed to take high sides. I shall Google that now.
Thankyou though, you've made me lean towards the bigger trailer 😀
Have you looked at the Boro Trailers being sold new on EBay good spec 13" Wheel Trailer 205cm x 110cm "A" Frame design c/w Jokey Wheel and 750kg Gross.
Bargain at £465 they would make a good base for a large high sided trailer.
I would suggest looking at both the trailers first when buying second hand. On paper I would suggest the 142 but if you need to look at replacing the tyres or wheel bearings then this will add an additional cost.
I was originally looking at a Erde 143 but by extending the sides on the 102 I was able to increase the load capacity to three times the original amount which was a lot more then the standard 143.
I will upload the photos tomorrow if you would like to take a look.
