Have you tried it from cold.? The overheat trip on it works in an unusual way, once tripped it requires the power to be switched off from the heater, then the rank to be filled with cold water and finally the power turned on again, at this point the Hester should work again. So if you manage to turn it on without water in the tank the trip goes, if you then fill it with water, find the heater is not working and try the gas and end up with hot water in the tank the trip will not reset.
I presume you are now home so try refilling the tank and then turning the electric heater on, it should work, if it does not then you have more than likely got a burned out element.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
