Hi

We're caravan newbies and have just bought our first awning.

It's a Bradcot Claasic with quick release alloy poles. It's come with pegs and ladders but I can't see how I connect the roof poles to the van.

Do I need to buy something or does ot work by tension.

Confused, so much to learn with a caravan....

Doe the poles have little hooks on the end, if so you do need to purchase an item which connects to the inside of the awning and the hook goes into it and then tightens using tension against the caravan, if there are no hooks and it's just the end of the pole you need to purchase suckers which fit on the end of the pole, press against the van and again work under tension. My advice would always be keep your eye on the end of the pole nearest the caravan as if it either comes loose of the sucker falls of and you push it against the van it can damage it quite badly

Do a search on 'awning pole connectors' on eBay, you will identify clearly what you need, try and avoid anything that has to be screwed into the caravan wall is my advice

None of the poles actually connect to the van, but those that form the roof should have a corresponding 'pad' attached to the awning, into which the roof poles hook and tension against the van.
Example pad:



These are attached to a section of the awning that would position these pads just below the awning rail, and on the inside of the awning. You should have for each roof pole and their position is adjustable.

Thanks all, I'd looked in the peg back and pole bag and not found them. Checked the awning canvas and they were attached. Now I can look forward to the row when we try and put it up for the first time!

And once you have got it up get some different coloured insulation tape and mark each joint with a different colour/combination of colours.
No problem then putting it up for a second time.
