Hi we have a carver heater in our two birth caravan that only works on ehu .
So obviously we are very limited to the seasons we can use our van,
with us being newbies to carvanning we would love to be able to use it more for rallies /meets . winter ect
Has any one any idea why this might be please ?
Thanks for any help .
Hi there,
On a previous caravan I had to take off the remove able cover from the outside flue otherwise it would not work on gas, I cannot remember if it was a carver but it is worth a look. The flue was also below a window that opened but had to be shut when operating on gas to prevent fumes entering the van, hope this helps

That would be a trauma store water heater.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

It should work on gas as well. Common problems would be the piezo igniter not sparking, or the batteries that run the electronic igniter ( if fitted ) being dud or a wire from the batteries being broken. You should also make certain that there is gas getting through to the fire, there will be an isolated in the line somewhere and it is possible this is turned off.
To light the fire if it has a Piezo igniter turn the gas control nob to somewhere in the middle of its range, and whilst holding the nob down click the piezo repeatedly til it lights ( it sometimes takes a short time for gas to get through ), once lit hold the nob down for 10 secs before releasing it.
If electronic igniter is present turn the nob, hold it down and the fire will click, when it ignites wait 10 secs then release .
In both instances you should be able to make out the Sparks that are trying to ignite it.
If this does not help you need to contact Gary of Arc systems ( search on Google or in this forum for him ) and he will no doubt solve your problem.

If unsure might be best to get it serviced/checked out. Best not to mess about with gas if you are not sure what you are doing?
Could have been turned off by previous owner because it was faulty/unsafe?

Our Carver didn't work on gas because the burner was corroded. It was condemned at the motorhome Habitation Service. (We'd noticed a whiff of gas when we were outside by the cowl.) Couldn't replace the part, had to replace the heater - Carver isn't around any more. But as others have said, don't mess with gas and I hope you find an easier solution. Meanwhile turn it off at the tap (ours is under the kitchen sink).
Thank you all ,we recently had the van serviced and the man just said its a big job to find out why its not working on leisure battery !
have been away several times and it works just fine on ehu . just press the button on the panel above it and away it goes . sorry i do sound a bit thick . im not honest but we have looked all over for a isolater and found nothing thanks
