Hi. Just planning my next phase of my 2015 trailer build and was wondering if anyone knows what the max height limit of a trailer is and also what the rules of adding anything to the sides?

Basically looking to add a topbox for clothes as these seam to be the most space taking up criminals of all.   I might add a front box but its next to impossible to find a small jocky wheel that will accommodate this.

Also rather than using the ring system for the windbreaks on the roof I am thinking of adding a 4" tube on each side to place the windbreaks in. I cant find anything to say you cannot do this but there is always someone who knows loads. There will need to be a bit of overhang each end. And will be fully u bolted with stress plates.

Please can anyone shed some light on the sides of a trailler as its proving to be hard to find anything.

As you can see its been alot of effort and I am getting nowhere near the weight limit of the trailer. So I just want to make it useable as I can.

my trailer build

Theres no height limit that you will come close to reaching & no rules other than it has to be safe, your conversion looks well made, so no problems. Load can overhang rear by 1 metre before before any marking required so you are ok.

You can legally overhang the rear of the trailer by up to 1 metre but personally I would fit lights and/or reflectors to the rearmost points to avoid having people running into the back when stopped at traffic lights etc.

So I should be good to make use of the sides?   The most the overhang is going to be is 300mm. 30cm.    Good idea on the reflectors   for the sake of a few quid at towsure its a great idea.

Many thanks as always. Got a ton of ideas for 2016 including an onboard water system that I can fill up at the site. And fold out kitchen.
