Our Cartagena has two large vents for venting the fridge freezer.
the Dometic handbook says ' you should also attach the winter cover if the vehicle is taken out of service for a longer period of time or while it is being cleaned from the outside'. We purchased the van new and no covers where supplied. Does anyone bother to use such covers?
Our fridge is Dometic, but 22 years old. I wonder if your cover is to protect the gas element - ours is corroded, so we can't use the fridge on gas, and it's inaccessibly at the rear of the unit (presumably at the vent?) But it's the first I've heard of a cover.

Yes, we used them...
It should state in the handbook a temp' at which they should be fitted (..I recall it's about 8-10 degrees C ?) .
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Yes they should be used as directed in the hand book,or why would they bother making them.
The simple answer to that is to do with you parting with money, if your van/whatever did not come with covers.
------------- XVI yes?
