We have a static & have to go through a local provider organised by the site, for WiFi.
We can only connect 2 devices through the site provider.
Has anyone got any knowledge or experience of connecting a WiFi repeater to the site's private provider's WiFi?
Thanks

France, we have to use ozmosis as the site's provider.

Sorry - I have contacts UK Wifi but not France or Spain. I'd suggest trying to contact Ozmosis directly - most providers want you to use the service, so are pretty helpful. Good luck.

This is what I use to map as a single device and then provide my own wifi network for 'unlimited' devices in the motorhome.

That is a good bit of kit. On CC site you can only log on one pc/phone etc and have to 'log off' before logging on another pc/phone.

Some sites I have been to lock your device down by MAC address so you can't even swap which device it classes as the one connected device. The Netgear unit connects as that one device/MAC address and then allows all your devices to connect to it and bridges the connection to the internet

Thanks Mr Buscuits
I wish I had known about this earlier. Just back from Tenerife where wi-fi cost 80 Euros for two devices for 2 weeks. In France, we are charged 10 Euros per device per week so as Amazon have them on offer for £23ish it will pay for itself. Ordering it now!

Yeah, doesn't take long for it to pay for itself in terms of money and family unity :)

My advise would be to set up your personal Wifi network at home before you need to take it away and get all your devices able to connect so if you need to troubleshoot (which I didn't have to in case you are worried) you can do it from the comfort of your own internet connection.

When you are away you just log your laptop/tablet etc. into your personal wifi (not the site's wifi) and then from the router's setup pages connect to the site wifi. If you need to log in to the site's pay page you press the 'Take Me to the Internet' button which becomes available once your router has connected to the site wifi. You then register and pay as if you were connected direct but the registered device/MAC address is that of the router not your laptop/tablet.

Thanks again, Mr Biscuits,
Item purchased and within minutes of plugging it in have connected through it to Wi-Fi 2 x laptops, 2 x iphones, 1 x Samsung Galaxy and 1 x Kindle Fire.   As you stated, set-up is no problem.   Worked really well on discreet tests done at coffee houses - three of us linked up at same time through the gizmo. Haven't had the chance to try a pay site yet. Last step now is to test it in conjunction with VPN or have you already done that?

Glad to hear it worked out for you. I've not tried using a VPN over the router but can't think why it wouldn't work.

If you've got it working on a public hotspot it should work fine over a pay site logging in through the unit. The only problem I get is the often poor reliability of the site wifi, but then again if I want good internet I could stay at home and that's not really the point

Unless it's a work VPN I don't see the need for one on a campsite.

It's not your IP address that you're downloading from

I use my own VPN whenever I use a free Wi-Fi hot-spot. Apart from the cyber-security it gives when using Wi-Fi away from home, when we are in France it also allows me to switch to a UK server so I can watch BBC iPlayer, SkyGo etc, do the National Lottery and all the other things which are blocked once you are outside the UK. I use ExpressVPN and it sets me back £8.95 per month. Since I packed up smoking, I have consciously set aside what I would have spent on fags so I have a wee slush fund I can use, otherwise the fag savings just get absorbed into disposable income. The VPN is less than 1 packet of fags per month - which is how I now automatically compare prices e.g. £100 = approx. 1 week's fags - 10 packets.

Hi,
We have the Netgear N300 unit which we have found useful from time to time, however last June while staying at Camping Yelloh! Saint-Emilion I had my Wifi provided by OSMOZIS blocked. I emailed them and received this reply:

"Dear Sir,

Your access has been blocked because you are using a connection-sharing software (e.g. Connectify, Wifi Hotspot Creator, Virtual Router Manager, etc...), which is not allowed, according to our General Terms and Conditions.

We have unlocked your access.

Please disable or remove this software, otherwise your access will be automatically blocked again.

We remain at your disposal should you require any further information. If you would like to contact us either email us at support at osmozis.com or call us on+ 33.4.67.58.40.83 or +33.8.11.46.28.50.

Best regards,"

.... fair enough; I knew the score. We however had no internet sharing software, just the Netgear unit connecting two Nexxus 7 Android tablets and a Windows 8 netbook. We hadn't even used them other than to check connection. Annoying as we (boring middle-aged couple :-))really use it for convenience, with rarely more than one item in use at a time, and then only for light web browsing (generally tourist info & weather) and email use (ie no downloading/streaming movies or TV etc).

My electricity supplier at home charges for how much I use not how many appliences are connected, I can't help than feel that campsite Wifi provision would fairer with a limit on data use, but fairer doesn't equal profitable....

Generally (for reasons above) we use a Mifi device for mobile internet, however where signal is lacking the Netgear had been useful.

regards
Onki
