If you are going gas, you will have to decide disposable or refillable. For long term economy the refillable are best but the initial outlay is higher. I don't use these but most people here will.
The disposables come in the aerosol butane cans or the en147 camping gas or threaded cans. Butane isn't as efficient in colder temperatures but the en147 are usually a butane/propane mix which is better. You will go through a lot of disposables in a week for a family.
I'be seen posts recommending two suitcase stoves side by side. Personally I wouldn't recommend suitcase stoves. If the canister gets hot by being covered by a large pot, it can go bang. They also tend to leak if left connected for a long time. Use two of the en147 type gas stoves if you want but I wouldn't get the ones that screw on directly to the top of the canister unless you use feet on the can. They can topple.
I have two gas stoves. A twin burner primus njord which is great but expensive to run as it uses disposables. The other is a single burner multifuel which can burn gas, petrol and kerosene. Petrol is cheaper.
Totally outside your remit, we do our cooking these days on a twin burner alcohol stove and a trangia. Slower and more gentle than gas. The petrol stoves we have are for backpacking and boiling the kettle. They are faster than gas.
Others on here use the excellent twin burner Coleman petrol stove. If on ehu, you can use electric as well.
It is up to you but for convenience and ease of use you are probably better with a twin burner, gas regulator and refillable gas canister. I believe that the camping gas bottles will be the most expensive.

When we used to camp we had the Coleman twin burner petrol stove, excellent stove and easy to use. Wish we still had it now for our trips away fishing, we seem to get through a lot of gas canisters.

Also Amazon.de have an interesting gravity fed alcohol stove which works a bit like a petrol stove without the pressure.

It preheats the alcohol to vapour and then it burns through a stove burner.
If you don't like the smell of meths you can use fireplace ethanol. No nasty smell and available in B&Q etc.

Most economical once you have the bits is smallest Calor bottle, butane or propane is better if you are camping early or late in season & then correct regulator, rubber gas hose & 2 burner cooker & stand, some have a grill as well.
If you want that type of stove, then a reasonably priced item from say, Go Outdoors is as good as any or you may find one for a few quid on a local boot sale. Boot sale is also a good place to find a Calor cylinder for not much money as well.
Once you have empty cylinder then take to gas supplier & exchange for full bottle paying only for contents. If you get a full bottle from supplier then first payment is for gas contents & bottle fee which is over £30 now, I think.

Another good place to look for an empty Calor bottle is your local council recycling centre.
