Hi
First post so please be gentle!
After years of being cold on air beds I've given up and I'm looking at getting a decent SIM, I'm struggling to find any user experience for the Andes 10cm SIM. Are they good / bad and are the outwell ones really worth twice the price?

I'm only a car camper and a festival now and again so pack size isn't really a issue I'm more concerned about comfort and insulation.

Cheers
Spence

No need to worry on here everyone is friendly.

If you are on a budget it seems fine if not very long and quite narrow an alternative for a generic 10 cm would be below.

If you are using the SIM on its own and not on top of a camp bed I would go for Vango, outwell etc , you can then get into the other SIM'S such as ThermaRest & Exped where you can easily spend £100 - £200

Depends what your budget is and what you are willing to spend etc

Thanks I hadn't noticed the length actually which I should have but being 6'5" most are a bit short anyway

I don't mind paying the extra for a thermarest ect if they are actually worth the premium over the others

We used to use a "ready bed" air bed with pillows and duvet from home and a few blankets under it for warmth. This used to take up a lot of space. When we changed tents we needed something a bit less bulky.

We switched to a SIM and sleeping bags. We went really cheap and got the 5cm Andes Explora (~£30). We put a £5 Ikea mattress protector on top to stop the sliding about, then a fitted sheet and sleep in a cheap double sleeping bag from Clas Ohlson. The whole lot takes up less than half the space of the previous sleeping gear.

Clare was initially worried about comfort, she has had back issues in the past, but we found the new set up much more comfortable than the previous air bed. The mat is much firmer than the air bed, but we both like firmer beds anyway.

Good to know thanks I too like a more firm bed which is another reason I'm looking to move from a rollpolly air bed
